Ashmita is a Junior Research Scholar at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai. In a neuropsychiatry lab, her work focuses on the molecular mechanism of antidepressant therapies. A soul bugged by wanderlust (and not having much choice in the matter), Ashmita has spent her childhood and early teens across 5 different cities in India. An eclectic mix of culture and traditions, she has always been attracted to different patterns of behavior across ethnic communities and is extremely interested in figuring out the neurocircuitry of a plethora of emotional responses. When not intrigued by all that is happening around her, she delves into the virtual world of books, simultaneously satisfying her need for wanderlust minus the expense of it all. Open and easy access to scientific literature would be her one wish to ask a genie, granted his powers were limited to the scientific community. Otherwise, she could do with a million dollars.
