Destiny Carbello

Destiny is a Research Master’s student at the University of Amsterdam studying Cognitive Neuroscience. She has worked as a behavioral therapist for children with developmental disorders, as well as an abuse counselor for the Department of Children and Families. Destiny also volunteered for the national suicide prevention hotline for 2 years as a crisis counselor. Her current research focuses on the influence of Psilocybin on cognitive and neural processes using electrophysiological methods. She plans to continue focusing her research on the role of psychedelics on mental and neural processes moving forward, particularly on a clinical population. She ensures that all her work is done within a social justice framework. 

Outside of academics, she enjoys engaging in her artistic expression through movement and poetry. She also enjoys connecting with her community and being in nature.
