Genevieve is a Ph.D. student at Northwestern University in the neurobiology department where she studies how flies sense temperature. She focuses both on the molecular level, studying the molecules expressed on the surface of antennal hot-sensing neurons, and on the behavioral level, where fly species from different thermal niches show distinct temperature preferences. Genevieve is very passionate about science communication and is always looking for opportunities to practice explaining science to diverse audiences. For fun, Genevieve can be found trying out a new restaurant in a hidden corner of her hometown Chicago, spending time with her family, or learning a new language (Hungarian right now!).
