Ryan is a fourth year PhD student in Psychological Sciences at Rice University. Her research focuses on the biological mechanisms through which psychological stress (e.g., bereavement, spousal caregiving) dysregulates the immune, autonomic, and endocrine systems. Before studying at Rice, Ryan completed her undergraduate studies at Bryant University where she served as captain of their Division I women’s tennis team for 3 years.
Ryan loves to talk about science in person and online! In addition to community talks and Skype-A-Scientist, she creates engaging content related to health psychology and psychoneuroimmunology as “Ryan’s Science”. When she’s not doing research or talking about science, Ryan enjoys being in nature, reading, and playing with her dog, Piper.
