Stewart is an MD/PhD candidate at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. His dissertation work in the Reichel lab focused on understanding the neurobiology of empathy using a targeted helping model in rats. Prior to Charleston, Stewart completed a BA/MS dual degree at the University of Colorado, Boulder, in Integrative Physiology where he completed a thesis on the sterile inflammatory stress response. Stewart is currently completing his clinical rotations in medical school and intends to apply to Psychiatry residency. Stewart’s current research interests include behavioral neuroscience, cognition, and psychiatry.
