Monique is a PhD student studying Cognitive Psychology at UC Santa Cruz. She researches how people learn to attend to relevant information in their often cluttered environment, particularly when interacting with technology. She is interested in how attention is biased by environmental regularities that guide what to expect when and where, and how these biases impact learning and execution of routine actions with human-computer interfaces. She received her B.S. in Psychology from Michigan State University.
Monique is a passionate supporter of STEM outreach and has worked in multiple K-12 outreach programs since 2012.
In her free time, she enjoys playing Dungeons and Dragons, crafting (sewing/cosplay, crochet, knitting, cross-stitch) and baking.
